The short story The Artist of the Beautiful describes the life of a torn artist that struggles between making art for beauty rather than for practicality. The breakdown of this dilemma, as well as the machines that the main character creates, are represented by the collage scattered through the book. Publication design was the main purpose of this design, utilizing legible typography and one type family.
